Garo Tavitjan Junior

b. 1982 Skopje

He started playing drums and piano at early age as his father, Garabet Tavitjan which is the greatest drummer in the Balkans. Many world critics call him "young but already among top European drummers whose credits are too numerous too mention".

He attended music school in Skopje and studied percussions and piano. He recorded and performed at numerous concerts organized within the Skopje music academy by its orchestra, jazz ensembles and pop bands. Tavitjan received a number of awards at percussion and drum competitions and festivals while he studied and had many solo performances at the "Days of Macedonian Music." After finishing music school, he received a fellowship from Berklee College in Boston, Massachusetts.

Tavitjan received the status "Independent Artist" from the ministry of Culture of Republic of Macedonia.

He has performed with world famous musicians such as: Andrea Palazzo, James East, Roseanne Vitro (Jazz Ambassadors), Morris Pleasure (Earth, Wind & Fire), Garabet Tavitjan, Diran Tavitjan, Rhani Krija,Vlatko Stefanovski, Vasil Hadzimanov, Theodosii Spassov, DadoTopic, Ron Savage, Larry Monroe, Marko Djordzevich, Karolina, Eva, Kaliopi, Dave Weckl and many more.

Since 1997, Tavitjan has been an active member of the group Garo and Paramecium as a performer and co-producer and has recorded two albums "A bre Makedonche" and "Paramecium Live". With Paramecium he had many performances at a number of international festivals including "Lucky Strike" in Belgrade-Sava Centar, with some of the greatest jazz musicians like Joe Zawinull, Chick Corea and Branford Marsalis etc.
Until the present day, he performed over 400 concert performances worldwide.

As a composer and producer, Tavitjan is active in electronic and world music with his solo album "Urban Groove," and has collaborated with many pop artists. He is currently working as composer, producer and performer at "The Tavitjan Brothers Group" with his brother Diran Tavitjan (piano). They released their CD called Tavitjan Brothers Trio which won at international jazz competition organized by SONY in UK. The Tavitjan Brothers Band has already been touring for 7 years around the world and collaborated with a number of world class jazz musicians as well as pop artists.
Garo Tavitjan is well known for his virtuosity and ability to perform in various different styles on the drums and using and developing traditional Macedonian rhythms and improvisations. His latest album "Macedonian Rhythms and improvisations" is the first solo drums project dealing with the traditional Macedonian beats such as: 11/8, 7/8, 9/8, 5/8 and improvising them.
He is active as a composer of film and theatre music. His latest theatre project was  "Aleksandar Makedonski - (Alexander the Great)" where Garo took part as a composer of the music and as a performer on the stage.

Garo Tavitjan is a succesfull producer and a composer of R’n’b, Soul and Pop music and has collaborated with the best artists from Macedonian music scene.
